Still savoring the White Sox magical run to the World Championship last year, it's time to look ahead to the upcoming season. I'm ready for spring and I'm ready for baseball! I'm ready to see how the Sox do, of course. I think we could be better than last year, and that prospect gives me chills. I'm anxious to see how the baseball world reacts when Bonds inevitably surpasses Babe Ruth.
I think the weather last Friday and over the weekend got me into baseball mode. I'd like it to stay like that. Of course it will be 100 degrees with 100% humidity before too long.
But we'll soon be at RFK. I'm ready to make my way through pushy ticket scalpers at the top of the metro -- "need tickets, need tickets. Who needs?" I'm ready to give a wink to the saxamaphone guy at the corner. I'm ready to make my way past all of the vendors lined up along the walk to the stadium. Say it with me: "Peanuts, cold drinks, tendollahats!" I'm ready to take up a seat with Dex and Johnny P, grab a dog and find beer guy. I will eat more cotton candy this year. (A reminder of a lost metro love). I won't have sunflower seeds, and I certainly won't attempt Dex's amazing feat of chomping multiple seeds and storing them on one side of his mouth. Dex the magician.
I'll continue in my epic quest to find a Ryan Church shirt. I mean, Ryan @ theater CHURCH dot com. This season I may join in with those bucket drummer guys on the walk to the metro and encourage them to change the beat up a little. Either that or throw in a cowbell and maybe play a little kazoo, too.
Dudes, it's almost spring. It's almost baseball! Get pumped!
